Portfolio: (BV.2 & BV.3) 5 pieces that demonstrates experience with a variety of media/techniques
Course specific:
· Art: 2D and 3D selected from drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media
· Crafts: 2D and 3D selected from clay, fibers (ie. Weaving), textiles (ie. surface decoration), paper (ie. book art, paper making), metal (ie. found objects, wire, tinfoil)
· Ceramics: handbuilding construction methods (slab, coil, pinch, modeling) with additive and subtractive surface techniques/manipulations.
· Analogue Photo: camera and darkroom techniques (pinhole, photogram, depth of field, contrast, angles/perspective, studio lighting, multiple exposures or sandwich negatives, action)
Sketchbook/artistic journal/notebook: 3 parts
Part 1: Visual (BV.1, BV.2, BV.3)
· Knowledge of creative process in planning, problem-solving and creating art
o Evidence of practiced techniques in content area
o Knowledge of elements and principles
o Knowledge of tools and media techniques and processes
o Course specifics( variety of processes):
§ Visual Art: evidence of drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media
§ Contemporary Craft and Design: evidence of from clay, fibers (ie. weaving ), textiles (ie. surface decoration), paper (ie. book art, paper making), metal (ie. found objects, wire, tinfoil)
§ Analogue Photo: test strips, contact sheet, negatives, chemical processing and equipment diagrams and safe use notes
§ Ceramics: evidence of all construction methods, surface techniques, stages of clay, firing processes, physical and geographical qualities of clay, history of ceramic art
Part 2: Contextual Relevancy (BCX.1, BCX.2)
· Evidence of teacher guided exercises/studies/research in global, historical, societal, and cultural contexts of visual arts
· Understand and demonstrate the connection between the practice of visual arts and common core subjects (ie. science, math, literacy and history)
